Bags
This study will foster children’s curiosity about bags so they can discover many different types of bags and how they’re used by people in their daily lives. This exploration of bags will support children as they develop fine motor skills, math skills, cognitive skills, and literacy skills.
Brushes
Curiosity about brushes and how people use them at home and in learning environments inspired this study about brushes. Children develop language and literacy skills, fine-motor skills, social skills, and a growing sense of independence as they explore brushes and other related materials.
Containers
This study will foster young children’s curiosity as they explore containers they use each day as they play, create, eat, and drink. Through their exploration children will develop language and literacy skills, practice math skills, and experience a growing sense of independence as they do new things for themselves.
Paper
This study encourages young children to explore the different colors, textures, shapes, and functions of paper in their lives in a variety of ways. Through their investigations, children will develop their fine motor skills, cognitive skills, social skills, as well as language and literacy skills.
Seats
Even though young children seem to be always moving, there are times when they sit down and interact with a variety of seats throughout their day. As children examine the various seats in their world, they will develop gross motor skills, math and language skills, as well as cognitive skills.
Balls
This study will encourage children to learn about the different types of balls as they carry, roll, bounce, and kick balls. Children will learn motor skills, social skills, language and literacy skills, and math skills as they interact with the various balls.
Clothes
This study focuses on the characteristics of clothes and children’s natural curiosity with colors, textures, materials, and patterns of clothing. Children will expand their fine-motor skills, cognitive skills, and social skills as they explore clothes alongside other children and learn about the special clothes other people wear.
Light
This study supports young children as they explore lights in the world all around them. An investigation of light is great for young scientists and will enhance their language & literacy skills, as well as math and independent skills.
Rocks
This study supports young children’s natural curiosity with rocks that they pick up, play with, collect, and hold in their hands. As children examine rocks, they broaden their understanding of the natural world and add to their cognitive, fine motor, language, and math developmental skills.
Shoes
This study about shoes encourages young children to examine shoes - their variety of textures, shapes, colors, sizes, closures, and function. They can compare differences and similarities with shoes worn by their families and friends. This exploration will develop young children’s math, language, and cognitive skills, as well as provide opportunities to practice fine motor skills.
